ATHLETES 

Advanced Competitor License  - $100.00 HST included
(includes AOS and Canada Snowboard General Membership)
The Advanced Competitor License is required by competitive athletes who are competing in the LTAD stages 4-6. For example:

  • All athletes competing in the AOS Point Series Alpine or Snowboardcross events (Freestyle athletes only require this license if they wish to receive AOS Points in the Point Series Halfpipe and Slopestyle events),
  • AOS Points are required to compete in the Provincial Championships for Alpine, Snowboardcross, Halfpipe or Slopestyle
  • to qualify for National Championships in any of the four disciplines,
  • to qualify for Ontario Winter Games or Canada Winter Games (every two years),
  • to qualify to receive athlete funding
  • to compete in any FIS (international snowboard federation) level events

Please note: Event fees and lift tickets are not included. 

Additional FIS License and CAIP Insurance

  • A FIS License is necessary for athletes wishing to compete in the NorAm and Canadian Open Snowboard Tour events and to qualify for the Canadian Snowboard Nationals.
  • CAIP insurance is mandatory for all FIS level athletes.
  • More information about FIS licenses can be found at http://ontariosnowboarders.ca/fis.htm  .
  • FIS License applications and Canadian Athlete Insurance (CAIP) are applied for by the athlete directly through Canada Snowboard (CS). Access to the CS Member Services is activated after the AOS Membership has been processed. Please allow 2 weeks to process your application.

Development Competitor License - $25.00 HST included
(includes AOS and Canada Snowboard General Membership)
The Development Competitor License is for athletes participating in such programs as RBC Riders, Interclub, or other snowboard development events hosted by the AOS or CS. Freestyle athletes may compete in AOS Point Series Slopestyle and Halfpipe events with this license but will not receive AOS Points. (All AOS Point Series alpine and snowboardcross competitors require an Advanced License)

  • Previous AOS recreational events are now sponsored by RBC and will be on the schedule as RBC Riders Events.
  • Event fees and lift tickets may not be included
  • RBC Riders Events may be a Slopestyle, Boardercross, Race or Turns and Jumps format see RBC Riders under programs for more information

 

COACHES, OFFICIALS, JUDGES AND VOLUNTEERS

General AOS and Canada Snowboard Membership - $25.00 HST included

  • All athletes, coaches, officials, judges, and volunteers must become members of the Provincial (AOS) and National (CS) Sport Organizations. The AOS General Membership includes membership with Canada Snowboard. This will ensure proper liability coverage while participating in all AOS/CS sanctioned events (i.e. training courses, competitions, tradeshows and other events).
  • Members of the AOS/CS can enjoy membership benefits such as free AOS T-shirt, electronic newsletters, retail sponsor discounts, sponsor specials, access to athlete health insurance and much more. Check our website regularly for new deals.

Coach License - $25 General AOS Membership + $25 Coach License Fee

In order to renew your CSCP Coaching License, you need to be considered at least Basic Coach in training or having continued your coaching education through CSCP or NCCP since 2006, or actively coaching in a current Canada~Snowboard recognized club.

Next you need to purchase a General AOS Membership. Once your membership application has been processed you may purchase a Coach License directly from Canada Snowboard. A Coach License fee of $25.00 ensures your liability coverage at all Canada Snowboard and FIS sanctioned events. 

 

Following your license purchase, and/or the completion of your Basic Coach Workshop you need to go to your local RCMP or Police Agency and have a Criminal Records Check as well as a Vulnerable Sector Search completed. Following the completion of this Search, we require you to Fax us directly:

A CSCP license will not be granted to an individual whose Criminal history check reports a conviction related to the vulnerable sector search. A decision with respect to granting a CSCP license to an individual whose Criminal history check reports a conviction on any other offence shall be made by the Coaching Experts Committee.

NOTE: The Criminal history check must be updated on an annual basis.

 

Officials License - $25 General AOS Membership + Officials License Free
  • All Officials must become General AOS Members annually. Officials then need to register for their FREE Officials License, which will ensure all Officiating certifications and events an individual has officiated are recorded and kept within the database. It also gives volunteers the ability to register for Canada snowboards Officials Training Courses. Visit member services at www.canadasnowboard.ca  to activate your license and to update your account information.
  • Additional attendance at an Officials workshops is required to participate in on hill roles such as: Gate Judging, Starter etc or off hill roles such as timing, registration

Judging License - $25 General AOS Membership + Judges License Free

  • All Judges must become General AOS Members annually. Judges need to register for the FREE Judging License, which will ensure all judging certifications and events an individual has judged will be recorded and kept within the database. Additional Information

  • The AOS Membership forms may be printed and mailed, faxed, hand delivered at an event or completed online. To become a member please visit our website to print forms or register online.  
  • An AOS waiver must also be printed and fully completed. A copy with original signatures must be forwarded to Association of Ontario Snowboarders to complete your membership application and ensure proper liability coverage.
  • Documents require the signature of a parent or guardian if the applicant is under 18 years of age.
  • AOS accepts cash, cheque, money order, or online payments (Paypal, VISA, Mastercard)
  • AOS Membership automatically makes you a member of Canada Snowboard
  • AOS membership is recognized by all other provincial associations.
  • All members are entitled to purchase CAIP - Canadian Athlete Insurance. For information on CAIP see the CAIP brochure at www.canadasnowboard.ca under Member Services Downloads
  • Memberships and Licenses expire June 30th each year
