Association of Ontario Snowboarders Competitive Series – Point Calculation
Riders who compete in the AOS’ Competitive Series will be eligible to accumulate points. The purpose of the points is to rank riders in Ontario and will be used:
- As one of the criteria for determining eligibility for events with limited enrolment (e.g. Nationals, Ontario Winter Games), and
- To determine the overall AOS ranking.
Points awarded for AOS sanctioned events are referred to as AOS points.
Eligibility
Any member in good standing with the AOS, who has purchased a Competitive Membership, shall be eligible to accumulate AOS points in the series in which he/she participates.
Riders 15 and older (for Alpine and SBX) and 13 and older (for Halfpipe) wishing to be eligible for Canadian Nationals must purchase their FIS license at the beginning of the season and compete in the AOS OPEN category at all events.
Events
Separate AOS point standing will be maintained for each of the following disciplines; in addition, points will be awarded in each of the age groups:

Awarding Points
AOS points shall be awarded at each AOS sanctioned competitive series event.
AOS points shall be awarded based on a 50 point scale and shall be awarded to the first 35 finishers in each event as follows:

Accumulation of Points and Ranking
All riders shall start each season with zero AOS points.
Each rider’s total AOS points will be the sum of all points received at each event within each discipline during the current season. Each rider’s total AOS points will be the sum of all points received at each event within each age category during the current season. AOS points for different disciplines are not added together, but are maintained separately for each discipline.
Quality of competitions may be considered by the evaluations to the extent they may distort recorded results and development plans.
AOS rankings at any given time will be determined by the total points awarded for the events to that date. The rankings will be based on descending order of points (i.e. highest to lowest).
An Ontario Competitive Points Series Champion will be chosen based on the total number of AOS points accumulated over the season. One Male and Female rider in each discipline will be awarded a trophy.
