Snowboarding in Schools Program

Partner Deadline Dec. 22nd 2017

Snowboard Ontario is in the process of completing a funding application to allow our staff to deliver the Burton Riglet Snowboarding in Schools program to elementary schools in Central Ontario at no cost to the school or its students. PLease advise if you are interested in becoming a school partner of this project by submitting a partner letter. 

Please note that ONLY schools that submit a partner letter will be considered for the project.

Project Overview

Snowboard Ontario staff will attend each partner school for a minimum of 1 day between April 16th 2018 and March 27th 2020 to facilitate the delivery of the Snowboarding in Schools program to PE classes for students JK to grade 2/3.

The Snowboarding in Schools program utilizes the Burton Riglet equipment and the PE Curriculum (attached) and the class will focus on an introduction to snowboarding lesson meant to provide students with a positive first experience.

We have done several snowboarding in schools pilot programs and have received very positive feedback from teachers, students and parents.

Partner Letter required to be considered for the project

If you would like to be included as a potential location for the “Snowboarding in Schools” project please send your signed partnership letter via email to no later than December 22nd 2017 and include the following

  • desire to be a school partner for the program
  • willingness to work with Snowboard Ontario to schedule the program days & circulate post program survey to students via email for anonymous completion 
  • ability to provide school gymnasium during the scheduled days PE classes at no cost
  • access to tv/video for the PE classes at no cost
  • ability to provide 1 PE teacher and 1 volunteer to assist in the execution of the scheduled project within your school at no cost
